Solidarity's Labor Day Celebration a huge success
The 2006 America in Solidarity Labor Day Festival was a smashing success. At least 200 people enjoyed the free barbecue, the union tug-of-war championship (won for the second year in a row by IBEW 76) and kiddie sack races, and we got many signatures for various petitions, including a petition to tell Congressman Norm Dicks what we think of Free Trade Agreements (we think they suck). Special thanks to Congressman Adam Smith for pitching in and making this year's event the best one yet!
Coming up: The October 8th anti-Free Trade event, Party for the Amazon! Building a Movement Toward a Fair Trade Policy. Check the Tahoma Activist Calendar for all the details on this event and many more. This event is co-sponsored by America in Solidarity and the Sierra Club - Cascade Chapter, and will feature music, food, prizes, and more.
Also in October, the Tahoma Progressive Media Conference, featuring Geov Parrish, Mike Honey, John Sandifer, and working groups to create new independent media initiatives in several different fields, including: documentary film, Public Access television, Community Radio, and more! Check it out at www.mediaaction.blogspot.com
Last but not least, we will be hosting an Open Thread here on Tuesday from 12 noon to midnight on the issue of democracy and voting in America, and here in Pierce County. Come that day and comment to your hearts' content!
